Engineering, with construction, have traditional apprenticeships dating back many years and have a requirement for a grounding in a range of skills (off the job training, up to a year) that underpin the eventual career undertaken. The basic skills enable the development and application of further skills and knowledge. These apprenticeships develop into higher/degree level. The trades encompass welding, sheet metal work, fitting, turning, mechanic, CAD, CNC, robotics, Electronics, PLC, maintenance, Electrical, Production engineering.
Level 4 Qualifications are the equivalent of a HNC or Certificate of Higher Education. Level 5 Qualifications the equivalent of a Foundation Degree.
